Research Interests

As an epidemiologist, I have worked on several large population-based cross-sectional, case-control, and cohort studies regarding dietary intake, physical activity, sleep, quality of life, depression, obesity, obesity-related genes, and cancer prognosis in US, Japanese, and Chinese populations. I am also a health disparities researcher with major research interests in health disparities of lifestyle behaviors (e.g., sleep), quality of life, stress, depression, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases among racial/ethnic minority children and adults. My current research has expanded to investigate complex interactions among sleep traits, stress biomarkers (hair cortisol and telomere length), and neuropsychiatric health. I have been working on the C-PASS I and C-PASS II projects with Harvard collaborators and local collaborators in Patagonia region in Chile.
