Research Interests

For the past seven years I have been working in research projects focusing on Nutritional Epidemiology, with a particular emphasis on maternal and child health. I have experience in analysis of population-based databases covering mainly the following topics: maternal mental health, hypertensive disorders during pregnancy; mode of delivery; and biomarkers. My current research focus on: (1) understanding the role of the mode of delivery on hormonal and metabolic changes that occur in women at postpartum; (2) evaluating the association between adipokines and mental disorders, especially in the perinatal period.
