Research Interests
My research interests are in reproductive and perinatal epidemiology. My work has been focused on exploring the effects of environmental and autoimmune factors on adverse pregnancy outcomes, especially birth defects. I have been involved in a large cohort study to explore the risk factors of female infertility in Shanxi Province, China and several case-control studies to explore the association between environmental exposure such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs) and neural tube defects. Now I am working on a project titled “Folate receptor autoantibody and the risk of neural tube defects.” It is a case-control study trying to explore the autoimmune factors behind NTDs, thus elucidate the mechanisms by which folic acid supplement can prevent NTDs.
